What should I expect during the virtual style consultation?
It's a fun and informative experience! You'll meet with a Black Lapel stylist one-on-one over video chat, who will guide you through our entire process online from start to finish. First, we'll help you set up an account. Then, we'll offer guidance and support on how to take your own measurements (you'll need a soft measuring tape and ideally, a friend to help). Finally, the stylist will assist you with fabric selection and help you design a custom garment that's perfectly suited for you.
Does it cost money?
The style consultation itself is 100% free! Just pay for what you decide to purchase.
How long does an appointment take?
Appointments usually take about 45 minutes, although it can be longer or shorter depending on what you're hoping to accomplish and how much you'd like to learn about styling your outfit.
What should I wear to my appointment?
We suggest that you wear a well-fitting t-shirt and a pair of light trousers (joggers are great), so you can take an accurate set of measurements.
What do I need to prepare in advance?
Great question! Here are some things to have on hand to set yourself up for success: 1) A soft tape measure (an absolute must so that you can record your measurements); 2) Someone else there to help you take measurements would be ideal but if no one is available we can still help you take accurate measurements (with a bit more effort); 3) A computer with a webcam or a smartphone that you can prop up or place on a tripod (download the Google Hangouts Meet app in advance); and 4) A location in your home or office with good lighting and enough space for you to be comfortable and for the camera to see your whole body.
What if I need to change or cancel my appointment time?
You can change or cancel your appointment time at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. To do so, send us an email at concierge@blacklapel.com.
How long do I have to wait until I receive my order?
For most products, your order will typically arrive in 3-4 weeks. Certain products, like our Savoy collection of full canvas suits, can require one extra week of time due to the additional hand-tailoring work required.
