The Business Casual Creative

Creative is a funny word. It means different things to different people. But if people describe your outfit as “creative” it’s usually a euphemism for “that’s a crazy-ass look, right there.” Don’t let that happen to you. Business casual workplaces are great for creatives who get to mix and match elements in their outfits. How? Like this…

A houndstooth blazer that, at first glance, looks brown and a pair of charcoal gray pants may seem like a strange combination. But that’s the genius of this outfit. Look closely at the jacket and you’ll see that the houndstooth pattern alternates between brown and dark gray. That means you can wear it with stony grays, as we have here with the pants, and earthy browns, as featured in the tie. The result, you’ll never be without a creative business casual option.

Another unexpected combination that creatives love is the single bit of bold color in an otherwise toned down outfit. Usually you see guys pulling this move in the spring with pastels popping out of gray suits. The concept is less used, but still appropriate for cooler weather. Here we paired a, gasp, pink Oxford shirt with otherwise fall/winter items. The strong color accentuates the jacket’s windowpane pattern while not taking over the entire look and brings a refreshing bit of lightness to your cool weather style.
