Understanding our Shirt Traits: A Guide

Shirt Traits at Black Lapel

In order to help you better understand the qualities of the shirt you’ll be receiving, we have outlined some qualities that we get the most questions about. Check out the guide below:

Opacity (How See-Through the Fabric is)

  • 1: Very Transparent
The fabric is extremely sheer, allowing a significant amount of light to pass through. Undergarments and skin tone are clearly visible under normal lighting conditions.
  • 2: Somewhat Transparent
The fabric is still quite see-through, but less so than a 1. Undergarments are visible, though the details may be slightly obscured.
  • 3: Moderately Opaque
The fabric offers a balance between transparency and opacity. While it isn’t completely opaque, it provides enough coverage that only darker or more contrasting undergarments might be faintly visible.
  • 4: Mostly Opaque
The fabric is nearly opaque, with minimal transparency. Under most lighting conditions, the shirt provides solid coverage, making undergarments mostly invisible.
  • 5: Fully Opaque
The fabric is completely opaque, offering full coverage with no transparency. Even in bright lighting, nothing underneath the shirt is visible.

Wrinkle Resistance (How Easily the Fabric Wrinkles)

  • 1: Very Wrinkle-Prone
The fabric wrinkles extremely easily and requires frequent ironing or steaming. Even short periods of wear can result in visible creases.
  • 2: Somewhat Wrinkle-Prone
The fabric tends to wrinkle with regular use, though it isn’t as bad as a 1. It still requires regular maintenance to stay looking smooth.
  • 3: Moderately Wrinkle-Resistant
The fabric has a balanced wrinkle resistance. While it may wrinkle after extended wear or improper care, it remains relatively smooth in normal conditions.
  • 4: Mostly Wrinkle-Resistant
The fabric resists wrinkles well, remaining smooth and neat even after a full day of wear. Occasional ironing may be needed, but it is generally low maintenance.
  • 5: Very Wrinkle-Resistant
The fabric is almost completely wrinkle-free, staying crisp and smooth even after long periods of wear. It requires minimal to no ironing or steaming.
